RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM MANAGEMENT & STUDY - A world's First Study Book of Rainwater Harvesting
Dr. Shetty is been experimenting, studying and has come up with many innovative, scientific and low cost methods to harvest rainwater. He is having dynamic personality who delivers lectures and talks at various academic institutions and corporate sectors to propagate and spread awareness on latest development in water sector. He has also presented papers at various international summits and seminars on water management.
After years of working on water he wonders why no one has come up with an idea to bring in text book for students to learn the subject of rainwater harvesting. There are manuals and guides on this subject but no single proper course book for students. Keeping this in mind he decided to write an easy and simple book covering all the aspects of rainwater harvesting. This book is a result of his vision to educate students on importance of rainwater harvesting.
The author leads company as one of the foremost and prestigious organizations working on water and environment in India. The KRG group has over 30 years of experience in providing valuable environmental services to its clients. The company has donned expertise by handling different types of rainwater harvesting methods as it consists of a group of professionals who are engaged in studying and implementing ground water developments and Artificial Recharge Structures based on the system and techniques of rainwater harvesting.
Social Impact Assessment
KRG India has done Social Impact Assessment) SIA for two government PSU's namely ONGC and IOC.
GHED Development Plan (River & Canal Linking Project)
The region of Ghed, Porbandar district, State of Gujarat faces the severe threat of emerging issues related to water, mainly in mode of water submergence, sea water Intrusion, degradation of subsurface aquifer system, fresh water problem, agricultural problem and communication Problem.
Four major rivers viz Bhadar, Minsar, Ozat and Madhuwanti, in their last stages river morphology with downstream characteristics, loaded with heavy sediments, are passing through this area so the low laying Ghed area gets fully flooded and gets disconnected from other parts of the district for 4 to 6 months soon after onset of monsoon rainfall each year. Ghed being low stream area, at the time of high tides and monsoon the Sea water enters the river and turns sweat water into salty water.
Due to water submergence and poor ground water quality the farmers are able to take only one crop in the whole year, in long term it would have profound impact on socio-economic aspect of the region and for sure cause decline in economic growth of the area. The residents of Ghed area have to suffer a lot in many ways in daily routine life during monsoon as all roads and communication system becomes disrupted.
Rainwater Harvesting Plan for National Highways to Check Climate Change
National highways are ideal choice for setting up rainwater harvesting structures. If our plan accepted then the ministry of road transport and highways can play important role in overcoming water shortage problems. The ministry can take an opportunity to become a role model by initiating a unique example in front of the world to overcome water problem and the Global Warming by utilizing the National highway connectivity for setting up the Rainwater harvesting structures.
Successful execution of this project by RT & Highway ministry would also help Indian government in achieving their target to overcome water shortage problems.Initiating this project would make entire highway connectivity of the country a green belt zone with local flora development. This process would increase ground water table and would certainly help in crop production of the road side agricultural land. For the travelers, the temperature of the highways will keep cool due to heavy plantation and people would also become aware of the local floras of the region they are passing by.
Heavy plantation would also benefit in later years for the commercial use and this will automatically provide road cross safety for passengers. In our motherland, we get more rainwater during monsoons. Proper Rainwater Harvesting method adopted to conserve them will help us to overcome water scarcity, which is looming largely day by day. It will not only solve the road maintenance problem in heavy monsoon, but also will increase the soil moisture content and fertility of road side locality. This in turn will result in more food and cash crop yields on road sides. The cumulative effect will be shown on the country’s economy itself. It will increase the green cover and add to the scenic beauty of the highways. Other living species like birds and animals affected by pollution will be able to thrive better.
Traffic and water logging solutions For city of Mumbai
As of 2009, Mumbai is on of the largest city in the world in terms of population, along with the neighboring cities of Navi Mumbai and Thane, it forms an urban agglomeration of around 19 million people. Mumbai is also one of the busiest cities in the world in terms of traffic with more than 15 lakh vehicles plying the roads. The vehicle density of Mumbai is 700 per km as compared to 127 of Delhi. Traffic jams and water logging during monsoons have become usual thing to the city. This progress has given unwanted new identity to Mumbai, the city of bad traffic, mismanagement and poor drainage system. The traffic problem in Mumbai is also the outcome of its geological condition. Through our concept and plan we have suggested to the government to give commuters a sustained drive in Mumbai, along with up gradation and introduction of mass transport systems. The emphasis should be placed on public transportation. Unless the bus and railway services are not upgraded to attract private vehicle owners, there seems to be no solution. Metro rails and sky buses, if properly channelized, would provide solution to some extent. But our concept focuses on use of local available resources as a solution. In fact Mumbai is the only island city in the world which does not utilize our own water resources for the transportation. The most important focus of our plan is that we have identified and generated additional space above the local train route to lay new tracks for metro and flyovers. Our concept is unique and is of great importance to the further development of the city.
Bank Hospital project a unique concept
There is an age old golden saying “Health is Wealth”. India is one of the most cultural and literate developing country with a population of more then 100 billion. But surprisingly there are no proper Medical facilities. In case of specialized treatment one has to go to big cities like Mumbai, Chennai etc for treatment. There are a number of Nationalized, Private, Multinational banks and Insurance companies as well as large industries and private enterprises in India. All of them depend on the tie-ups with private hospitals for good medical care to their staff and employees for which they spend corers of rupees annually. Instead of this we have better solutions of the same and which is beneficial to all the peoples as well corporate and their staff.
This project may appear like a distant dream now, but will soon become a reality heralding a medical revolution in history of our beloved nation.Bank Hospital project is unique concept, there is an age old golden saying “Health is Wealth”. Vision Vishwamitri
The India's First River recharge project, Vishwamitri is one of the holly river in Vodadara. Which is passing through the heart of Vadodara. Which is passing through the heart of Vadodara. The river length is almost 28 Kms, during rainy season we can call as a river, after this river is converted to Sewafe line.
KRG India has develop an Innovative Challenging Concept for Vishwamitri. This river flow the water 365 days and permanently we can call River Vishwamitri.
Also we can maintain Holly name and take advanteges of River Vishwamitri.
Climate Change and Water Stress Solutions for Dubai (U.A.E.)
This is a unique concept, Especially for Dubai we at KRG India Research Centre have developed latest technologies to make full and best possible use of “gray water” as a solution to all the problems related to the rising temperature in Dubai. The technologies developed by us on gray water harvesting are very simple and increasingly becoming the scientific and cost effective technology to get a lasting solution to overcome the emerging water shortage, to stop sea water intrusion at coastal regions, to develop coastal ground water bed, to develop thick forest on coastal regions and to make full use of gray water for greenery.
33 Municipalities in Gujarat
We have successfully completed the Technical Feasibility Study for 33 Municipalities of Gujarat State. Technical Feasibility Study of Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) and Thermal Power Station, Gandhinagar, Dhuvaran and Panandro have been successfully completed. For two municipalities the implementations of the recommendations have already completed by us. The company has implemented Rainwater harvesting Project in more then 5000 individual houses and private buildings.
